How to Connect

  1. Use Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11.
  2. Select Multiplayer and then Add Server.
  3. In the name field, enter New Krotoa.
  4. In the address field, enter mc.forr.es.
  5. You will need to be whitelisted in order to connect to the server. Message Gump with your Minecraft username.
  6. Double-click on the New Krotoa server to connect.
  7. Accept the custom resource pack prompt when prompted.
  8. Done!

Rules

  • We have a farm for most resources. Avoid systematic resource harvesting around other people's stuff.
  • Ask around if it is okay to build near other people's stuff.
  • Don't grief other people's stuff.
  • Despite our main base being called Mt Cool As Fuck, try to keep things child-friendly. No giant vulvas.

Non-Vanilla Stuff

The only differences between our server and true vanilla Minecraft are performance enhancements, minor quality-of-life improvements, and the following carefully selected gameplay enhancements:

Optional Resource Pack

When you connect to the server, you will be prompted to use an optional resource pack. This pack enables the following visual and quality-of-life improvements:

To prevent the optional resource pack from downloading every time you join the server - and to use it in single player - you can download it manually and place it in your Minecraft resourcepacks folder.

The gameplay tweaks and optional resource pack features listed above are provided by Vanilla Tweaks.

Using Fabric - Better Vanilla Minecraft

Fabric is a lightweight Minecraft modding platform that can improve performance while preserving vanilla gameplay rules. We use it on our server for performance improvements, but it can also be used on your own Minecraft client.

Important: close Minecraft and the Minecraft launcher before installing Fabric.

  1. Download and run the Fabric installer.
  2. Select Install.
  3. Start the Minecraft Launcher.
  4. In the dropdown, select the Fabric Loader profile for Minecraft 1.21.11.
  5. Select Play, and follow the How to Connect guide found above.

These Fabric mods are recommended because they provide excellent performance and quality-of-life enhancements while keeping Minecraft feeling vanilla.

  1. Download this ZIP file of recommended mods.
  2. Unzip the files to your Minecraft mods folder.

New Krotoa Creative

Our Creative Minecraft server is a place to collaborate on large builds, experiment with ideas, and test things out. To connect, follow the “How to Connect” section above, but:

  • In the name field, enter New Krotoa Creative.
  • In the address field, enter creative.mc.forr.es.

The Creative server uses all the same modifications and resource packs as the Survival server.

All players have access to commands, including Carpet Mod commands, and the command blocks at spawn allow you to adjust some basic server settings.

Do not build near spawn. Instead, use one of the coloured build areas marked out from spawn.
